🥖 When Little Becomes More: Trusting God to Multiply What You Offer

Have you ever had a moment where you felt like you didn’t have enough to give?
Not enough time.
Not enough energy.
Not enough faith.
Not enough of… anything?

In Luke 9:11–17, the disciples find themselves in exactly that situation. Thousands of people are following Jesus, hungry for food and for hope. The day is ending, the crowd is huge, and the resources are laughably small—just five loaves and two fish.

The disciples’ solution? “Send them away.”
But Jesus?
He says, “You give them something to eat.”
And in that moment, a miracle unfolds—not just through Jesus, but through the willingness of the disciples to participate, even when they felt they had little to offer.

🙋‍♀️ “I’m Not Enough” – The Battle We All Face

Many young adults and parents secretly carry this burden:

“I’m not spiritual enough.”
“I’m not doing enough for my family.”
“I can’t help anyone—I'm struggling myself.”

This kind of thinking is known in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) as all-or-nothing thinking. We believe if we’re not giving everything perfectly, then our efforts are worthless.
But the Gospel reminds us that God does not ask for perfection—He asks for availability.

💬 "God doesn’t need your perfection—just your participation."

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families and Young Adults: Carriers of the Miracle

When Jesus fed the crowd, He didn’t do it alone.
He involved the disciples.
He asked for what they had.
And He blessed the little, then invited them to pass it out.

In our homes and our communities, God still works this way. He asks us to bring what we have—be it small—and let Him do the multiplying.

A tired mother praying with her children.
A young adult offering to help a friend in need.
A father encouraging his teen instead of criticising.
These are the loaves and fish of today.

✨ From Scarcity to Abundance – Changing the Way We Think

CBT teaches us that changing our thoughts can change our emotions and behaviour.
The disciples looked at the crowd and thought, “Not enough.”
Jesus looked at the same crowd and said, “Sit them down.”
He saw opportunity, not limitation.

💬 "Gratitude turns not enough into more than enough."

Try this shift today:

  • Instead of saying “I can’t manage,” say, “I’ll offer what I can and trust God with the rest.”

  • Instead of “I don’t have time for prayer,” say, “Lord, receive these five quiet minutes.”

🧺 Leftovers of Grace

One of the most powerful parts of this miracle is the end:

“They all ate and were satisfied. And the leftover fragments filled twelve baskets.”

God doesn’t just meet needs—He overflows with love and provision.
When we give God our little, He gives us back more than we imagined.

💬 "You may not be able to feed a hundred people, but feed just one."
– St Teresa of Calcutta

Your words, your presence, your yes—no matter how small—can become a miracle in someone else’s life.

🙏 A Gentle Challenge for the Week

  • What “five loaves and two fish” can you offer this week?

  • Who around you might be hungry—for love, support, attention, or encouragement?

  • What is one small thing you can give or do, and trust God to bless it?

💬 Final Thought

We all feel “not enough” sometimes.
But the truth is—you don’t have to be enough. God already is.

Offer what you have. Trust in the One who multiplies.
And don’t be surprised if He turns your small offering into something extraordinary.
